BVW- Space Guardian
Game: Space Guardian | Platform: Kinect | Time: 2 Weeks | Role: Artist (UI, Start/End Screens, 3D Model & Animations)
Team: Sarah Tan (Programmer), KJ Liu (Programmer), Fu Yen Hsiao (Artist), Eric VonFisher(Artist, Producer), Ankit Patel (Sound Designer)
For the first project in Building Virtual Worlds, my team of 5 (two artists, two programmers and one sound designer) created the game Space Guardian in two weeks. Space Guardian is a gesture based game using the Kinect platform. By moving body and waving hands, player can capture astroids to attack enemy space fighters to protect the yellow aliens.
There are only two week to produce this game, so I designed a simple character but with the unique appearance and personality. I built a hilarious yellow alien as the game character should be protected. The exaggerated face expression and posture are impressive. Most game testers were hooked on this ugly and tiny creature after they tired this games.
Cut Scene Animation
I built character models in MAYA, and import them to Cinema 4D (C4D). After I created environment, lighting, and effects in C4D, I rendered the animations which represented the game stories. I composed the game story. The story is about a warlord in space was eager for war so it attacked a beautiful and peaceful planet. Unfortunately, the protection mechanism- shield generator on this planet was broken, so the player, has the mysterious power to control astroids, should protect them until the generator was fixed.
